The electroplating sector represents the largest and most critical application for titanium mesh baskets, where they function as anode baskets to hold soluble anode materials (e.g., nickel, copper, tin).

Key Functions & Advantages

Uniform Anode Dissolution: The open mesh design facilitates free flow of the plating solution, ensuring the anode material dissolves evenly. This prevents localized depletion or over-concentration of metal ions, resulting in a smooth, consistent plating layer and minimizing defects like pits or nodules.

Efficient Material Utilization: Titanium baskets efficiently utilize anode scraps, offcuts, and irregularly shaped pieces, reducing raw material costs by over 30% compared to using solid anode plates.

Minimized Anode Sludge: The design promotes complete and controlled dissolution, generating significantly less anode mud. When paired with a polyester or polypropylene anode bag, it prevents sludge from contaminating the bath and causing surface defects on plated parts.

Operational Convenience: They allow for easy loading, replenishment, and replacement of anode materials without shutting down the entire production line, greatly enhancing operational efficiency.

Prevention of Passivation: By increasing the effective surface area of the anode, titanium baskets reduce current density and help prevent anode passivation, a common issue that disrupts the plating process.

Operational Guidelines

Height Placement: The basket rim should be 30–40 mm above the solution level to prevent sludge overflow. The bottom should be 100–150 mm above the workpiece to avoid localized overheating and burning.

Current Density: The current density on submerged hooks must not exceed 1.5 A/mm² to prevent overheating and damage.

Pre-Use Treatment: New baskets should be activated by cleaning with a 10% alkaline solution followed by a 5% dilute acid bath to remove surface contaminants.
